Hi! I’m Amber Melody.
Australian fashion and fine art photographer, based in Byron Bay.
Here are 5 random things about me:
I love to travel. And I haven’t hit the road for a while so I’m currently fixated on the thought of spending more time in LA. New York City. And, always, Paris (my most favourite).
I lived in more than 20 different houses as a child. Clearly, my parent’s gypsy years. What I know now is that HOME is more about the people you’re with than the place you’re in.
I studied Photography, Design and Digital Media at University in Sydney, then moved half way across the world to London as soon as I graduated, embarking on a career in Editorial Design. I worked for magazines including Vogue, GQ, The Observer and Tatler both in London and Sydney, before escaping the city for the beaches of Byron and returning to my original love, photography. It is my eternal adventure.
I have always loved movies. I interned in the Art Departments at Fox Studios and New Line Cinema in LA, and production-designed some short films here in Australia, a few lifetimes ago 😉 Today, building good photography teams touches on the creative camaraderie of the film set, and I like that a lot.
I am constantly inspired by the beautiful work of Richard Avedon, Herb Ritts, Patrick Demarchelier, Vivian Maier… and all of the photgraphers who truly see the world in light and shadows.
